Towson Tigers Game 22 Preview

Towson Tigers

Weather permitting, the Tigers will make a short trip to our nation’s capitol today for a mid-week game against George Washington. The university, not the dead president. Nothing ever comes easy.

The GWU baseball team is on a five game winning streak and has some serious thump in their lineup. Senior Isaiah Pasteur is the biggest thumper, bopping six home runs on the season, three just this past weekend. He also pitched four innings of one-run ball on Saturday, earning Atlantic 10 Player of the Week honors. No word on how he likes his milk.

It can’t be coincidence that George Washington University uses Colonials as their mascot and their colors are basically the same as the uniform colors of the colonial forces in the original Battlestar Galactica. Can it?

Apollo, Adama, and Starbuck from the original Battlestar Galactica

It can’t.

After getting several mentions on this website over the last week, junior Alex Cuas gets the call as today’s starter. Hopefully the improvements that showed in his two outstanding recent relief appearances will carry over. I’d bet two dollars Bo Plagge gets on the mound in this one, too, since he and Cuas were the expected starts in last week’s games that were cancelled.

Lineup

Looks like we have a bit of a new normal going today. Andrew Cassard sits again, with Billy Lennox covering left field and the lead-off spot in the order. Noah Cabrera gets another start at first base. He’s played every infield position except shortstop, showing great defensive versatility. Trey Martinez gets a well-deserved day off after doing yeoman’s work behind the plate this past weekend. Colin Gimblet will try to build off his huge game on Sunday. Game on!
