Game 10 Preview – Woo Hoo, Mid-Week Baseball! (Updated)

Towson TigersThe Tigers travel to George Mason University today for an afternoon tilt, starting at 2:30 P.M. eastern time. You can read lots of tidbits about the series history here and you can watch the game streaming online for money. I’ll be updating this page throughout the day as I get more info on line-ups, etc.

Sunday’s hero, Bo Plagge, gets the start today, his first of the season. Numbers-wise, Plagge has had much more success at the plate, but the coaches clearly see some potential for him as a pitcher. I am not sure I will be able to watch today’s game (money and day jobs and all that), but I will try. I was able to google some scouting report info on him from high school and back in the summer of 2015 he was throwing in the mid-80’s, with a low 70 mph curveball. So he could very well be around 90+ mph at this point (or maybe not, these things aren’t always linear).

Actually, as I wrote that I just found a recruiting video of him from that same summer.

A little more digging shows that Plagge was a decorated high school player and was, at one point, considering Auburn University, apparently a family tradition. Instead he chose Towson. Color me intrigued.

UPDATES

D’oh! Looks like Plagge is not starting this game after all. Instead, it will be freshman Josh Seils.

Seils is a 6′ 2″, 170lb right-handed pitcher from Brookeville, MD. I haven’t found any definite info on his stuff, but he looks like he throws pretty hard in this video from high school.

I found this scouting report on him from September, 2016.

Seils has continued to project over the summer. A long and lanky frame with projection. Getting more looks on the mound with his body now and showing off a fastball in the mid 80’s with room for more.

He’s only pitched 3.2 innings so far, so this could be his most extended action of the season.

Here’s today’s line-up, which again features a top three of Andrew Cassard, Richie Palacios, and Mark Grunberg.

  1. Andrew Cassard, LF
  2. Richie Palacios, SS
  3. Mark Grunberg, CF
  4. Billy Lennox, 3B
  5. Colin Gimblet, RF
  6. Charlie Watters, 1B
  7. Trey Martinez, C
  8. Logan Burke, DH
  9. Dirk Masters, 2B

SP– Josh Seils, RHP
